If you live in Las Vegas and happen to be in need {I think we all are} of a top notch Chef, I just happen to have found one. Chef Kas!  This East coast raised Chef has a ton to share about healthy eating and doing it to fit your lifestyle.  Since starting Vegas Bloggers, we’ve had a great time meeting tons of local businesses, schools, attending events and just Las Vegas as a whole {and it’s only been a month}.  This great city offers tons of great resources and having a knowledgeable, fun, reliable and just darn right awesome Chef on hand is a good find to have.

I love his philosophy that he shared at our workshop,

“Food should not only look good & smell good but it should make you feel good after you eat it.” ~ Chef Kas

Awesomeness right!  This Social Media Savvy Chef has enough energy to keep any hungry crew entertained, well fed and feeling good throughout the whole process.  If you would like to learn more about Chef Kas, you can check him out on his website: http://www.customcuisinelv.com/

However, like I said…this Chef is social media savvy so make sure to give him a tweet or two.  Or maybe a comment on his Facebook wall and tell him Lala sent you!

Here’s just a taste of his yummy yummy dish  he prepared for us:

Stud Master in the building

Do you remember the first post about our little stud?  He seemed so big then but now looking back, he was a itty bitty. However,  our little guy is officially growing up.  Even though he’s still a puppy and only 7 months old as of 2 days ago, he has made that leap.   And just in case you were trying to guess if we were going to have a birthday party for our little guy….why yes, YES we are!  Stay tuned February 2012!

Living in a cute little box

That’s what most of the houses that are built now adays are, a box.  Unless it’s a custom home it’s a track home or semi custom.  Either way, I love looking.  I love looking at how it could look {the “new” homes} or how people live in their homes {the”‘re-sales”}.  I just love it!  I love it so much I even took Real Estate classes to get my license, JUST so I could look at homes when I want.  I know crazy right….but still, I love it.

Back when Las Vegas was booming about 10 years ago and they even has the ahhh famous house bidding called “The Lottery”, there were tons of Model Homes all over Vegas.  You couldn’t drive one block and not see a new home sale sign.  Ok, maybe not every block but there were tons {I miss that}.

I think I’ve seen almost every model home in Las Vegas. Seriously, I do.  My family will tell you, I would drag them around town or I would be MIA because I’m checking out new homes.  Even after we purchased our home, I still loved to look.  The lines, the textures, the colors….it all is an overwhelming sensory smorgasbord for my creative habbit.

There aren’t too many these days but when I do see one I must stop.  Design ideas are always fun to gather so over the weekend I saw one…we stopped!

Now, I didn’t have my snookie {my canon} with me but a good ole’ point & shoot worked just fine.  Details, details and lot’s details.  This wasn’t one of my faves but they had a great deal of details that I did love.  First up, the medicine cabinet {see I told you I look at details}.  This medicine cabinet is to die for!  It has a mirror inside and is super deep.

Just in case you Love it too, the image over to the right has the name of the manufacture.  Love you Zaca!

The pictures above is the same room.  Top – is the view from the kitchen.  Bottom – is the view from the family room.  I love the sitting area in the middle.  Although we could better use that space for a pool table area, but still this is a quaint little space.   I’m all about function.  If I can’t use it, I don’t want it in my home.  I remember growing up and have plastic – yes plastic – on certain items in the house.  I can’t even fathom that now.

What can I say about this room.  Theatre seats lined the back of the room.  And dark burlap curtains hung from the windows. My hubby’s dream. One thing I never thought about was painting the door to seem…well, seamless.  Love this idea, I will be adding this to the “must do” list on my dream home.

My ultimate favorite builder in Las Vegas are the Christopher Homes. They’re unique, generous on space and are filled with quality details.  Everything I love! But when your needing a “house fix”  looking at anything new is always nice.

All about the pretty pretty: Ballet

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrSubmit to StumbleUpon

I love that my kids are asking me to join sports now.  I put them in a few things a few years back, you know the usual, ballet, karate…etc.  But they seemed to only do it because..well, I signed them up!  But now,…..oh they are asking to join sports and I love it!

My daughter really loved Ballet so we went ahead and put her back into that.  Little did I know that it also included tap this time around.  What a nice little “loud” surprise.

For me, watching her face as she tries to keep her legs up and straightening her arms to make the perfect circle…they just put me in a quivering tear state.  Of course I don’t do it {yet} in her class but my lips do quiver.  She melts my heart watching her heart try so hard.  I’ve never seen her work so hard at something.  I had no idea you could love one little being so much and not leave you just ill.  She’s my littlest peanut.  I adore her. When she breathes, I feel her breath. When she laughs, I burst into hysteria.  Who would have know something so tiny could bring this much joy {times two – really}.

This has to be my favorite photo from her 3rd class.  The teacher was showing them the finale of the show and they all didi it together.  So adorable.

tennis…to be continued……..

Meeting Octavia Spencer & being a “blogger”

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrSubmit to StumbleUpon

Being a deal blogger has opened up many opportunities for me and I’m grateful for them all.  When I left my healthcare career almost 7 years ago I had no idea that I would be sitting at a round table interviewing Octavia Spencer{ actress in the upcoming movie the Help} and sitting in a suite in the Mandarian Oriental Hotel the size of my house.  It’s amazing and surreal all at the same time.  I’m always excited to get dressed up with “going out” clothes and meeting other adults {true words from a stay at home some of the time mom.

Having the opportunity to interview Octavia along side other “mommy” {even though we are so much more} bloggers {Michelle, Lauren, Laureen} and top notch film critics {Patty & others} was …shall I say….AWESOME!  Octavia was down to earth, sweet and putting us all in stitches.  I recorded the whole thing but my sweeter than sweet husband was fixing my phone {you know….”fixing it to go faster…} get it!  and…”accidently – erased the entire interview.  Yes, that’s how that story went and that’s that.

The room…oh, the room.   It had it’s own galley Kitchen, bar area, living room, bathroom suite loaded with a dressing area the size of my upstairs.  It was incredible.

But…my favorite by far was the dining room. The lighting was opulent, sexy and chic all rolled up into one. Over looking the fabulous new City center.  It really was a piece out of a move “- so fitting right!”

I have not read The Book yet and everyone that I know that has has given me much grief.  BUT…..I have seen the movie and it is powerful!  You will want to go see it on opening day August 11, 2011.  One of the questions I had to ask her was, “What was it like acting along side the likes of Sissy Spacek & Cicely Tyson?”  Her response was just as mine would be.  Amazing!  Good luck ladies with your new film, much success!

Dress up Time

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrSubmit to StumbleUpon

I love that even though we live in the desert my babies love to be as imaginative as their little brians will take them.  I would take the credit for all this but the hubby was raised in Montana and had lot’s of play time {probably more than me} so he’s full of imagination.  Playing dress up and being a master chef is my littlest peanut’s favorite thing to do.

With glasses and hair ribbon in hand she asks me, “can you take pictures of me in my play dress?”  Now, this play dress was her graduation dress from pre-school that no longer fits her {or does it?}.  She knew I couldn’t resist.  Take Pictures?  I’ve never said no.  I pop on my favorite lens and start to snap.  She turn it on and turns it off like a blink of an eye.  Even though she’s taking ballet classes now, I can tell she’s made for acting.  Seriously….she loves to put on little skits that she and her brother make up.

She’s a piece of my dream this one!  Love her.

Pure Pup: Come Meet Chase

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrSubmit to StumbleUpon

I don’t consider myself a pet photographer but this super high energy puppy {our puppy} was fun & challenging to capture all rolled up in one.  Meet Chase!  He’s 12 weeks old and we’ve had him for almost 2 weeks.  If you follow me on Facebook, you might have met Sophie.  We adopted her 6 weeks ago and unfortunately had complications.  Our little nest was lost without the cuteness of of a puppy scowling around.

So my hubby’s mind was set!  Our search began for Chase.  We didn’t know it at the time but he would quite the chase.  He is the most energetic puppy I’ve ever had and by the end of day, I’m not sure if he or my twins tired me out.  I’m sure it’s both.  By the way, if you have a pet, have you ever checked out the Martha Stewart line at Petsmart?  I adore it so.  The colors, quality and style are just the best!  Without further ado, meet Chase:

I usually do a mini shoot with the kids when they have birthdays.  Nothing new!  Except this year they wanted their own.  Not together…..Eeekkkkkk!!!  My twins not together in a birthday photo just broke my heart.  As a mom of multiples, I see everything in double.  This was even the first year they had a request as to how the shoot should go.  Are we there yet?

I usually do a cute girly dress for my little peanut in some kind of pastel  colors and make it super whimsical.  Nope…..not this year.  She wanted a rock star look.  Seriously! ?!???  I’m thinking this shoot, this one was for her.  I think I’ll still need my mommy fix and do another as their birthdays come closer just to appease me….the mommy of the group.

Without further ado…..the almost birthday girl….peanut/rockstar!

……oh and the crooked glasses just kill me.  She insisted they were on right!

Pure Boy: Getting outside

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrSubmit to StumbleUpon

Yesterday I started the first of five days at the fab WPPI conference here in Las Vegas.  Mommy at a conference meant Cowboy had the kid-lets and they loved every minute of it.  We’ve all been terribly sick over the past two two weeks so there hasn’t been too much going on with 103 & 105 temps.  I think the one person that’s been truly affected by all this sitting inside getting well business is…..chunk.  He has the boy spirit like there is no body’s business.  If he’s not outside for at least 5 minutes in a days time, he’s going through withdrawals.  He doesn’t care what he does, doesn’t care who he’s with…just wants to be outside.  He so didn’t get this from me.  I can attribute all of this nature loving to daddy and his Montana hot blood.

While he waited for daddy to get dressed, sissy to primp in the mirror just to go outside and play…I snapped these pics of him waiting….waiting and waiting for anyone to come outside and play with him.

I love my little man, he’s going to be a very handsome, strong & loving man!

another life: before Mommyhood

Share on TwitterShare on TumblrSubmit to StumbleUpon

To my little bumpkins I’m “mommy” … explaining to them that “mommy” had a full carefree  life before they were here is incomprehensible right now.  I get it!  I didn’t fully understand all the different facets of my mother until well into adult hood.  So this post is for my kiddie pies who one day will look back on my blog online or print, they will know mommy was a real person, who loved being sexy, playful, giddy with flirt and loved loving life.

Cowboy and I lived in Washington for 8 fabulous years. And in those 8 years I modeled at an agency in Portland and love it!  Getting all glammed up and having others fuss with the details….LOVE…pure and utter love!  It was only for a short time but fashion modeling was truly another window into what I now call my passion/hobby/work/career….Photography…my life!  It’s always been around me in one way shape or form.   Being able to not only understand how to take the picture but how the model feels on the other end is hopefully a tool that I can help my potential clients with.

So…if your ever doing a session with me and you happen to see me showing you the shot I’m looking for, now you’ll have a little inside information and maybe even give me a little chuckle because you know why :-)

My littliest peanut looked at me today and said, ” mommy, I think your teeth are coming out…what happened?”  I looked at her and said, “you never noticed mommy has a gap in her teeth?”  She said, …with the biggest smile then laughter “silly mommy”…..ahhh my precious angel.  I wonder do I have a halo & wings to my babies too??
